MEPCO NOC for Private purchase of AMI meters

Permission for Private Purchase of Smart AMI Single Phase Meters for New Connections Under MEPCO

MEPCO is currently facing a significant shortage of single-phase energy meters, leading to delays in providing new domestic and commercial single-phase connections. In response to public concerns, the Chief Executive Officer, MEPCO, has granted permission for consumers to privately purchase Single Phase Smart Energy Meters as a temporary solution.

This decision aligns with the SOP for the private purchase of material for new connections, as approved by the MEPCO Board of Directors during its 177th meeting held on 30.10.2021 (reference: company secretary memo no. 691-4-33 dated 12.11.2021).

The following conditions must be strictly followed for the private purchase of Static Single Phase 2-Wire AMI GSM/GPRS Energy Meters, which must support remote disconnection and reconnection as per NTDC specifications (amended to date):

  1. Source of Purchase: Meters must be purchased from manufacturers who have received prototype approval from the Chief Engineer (S&S), NGC, Lahore and possess valid compliance certificates issued by PITC.
  2. Approval Requirement: Applicants must obtain case/NOC approval from the competent authority before purchasing meters.
  3. Specification Compliance: Meters must meet the latest NTDC specifications (as amended).
  4. Instruction Adherence: All instructions issued by MEPCO/PPMC/NTDC regarding the private purchase of such meters must be followed carefully and completely.
